Since the PlayStation 5's release last month on November 12, gamers all over the world have been trying to get their hands on one, and some without much success. Even though it has been Sony's biggest console release to date in the UK, scalpers still managed to get their grubby little mitts all over them by scooping up more than 3,500 of the hard to find systems leaving genuine consumers at a loss. To make matters even worse, one Youtuber has decided to record themselves placing a PS5 into a shredder just for the hell of it and watching it being crushed to pieces.

Captain Crunch, a YouTuber who makes videos by crushing everything from an iPhone 12 to the PlayStation 4, has now gone a step further by taking their much-sought after PS5 and destroying every part of it from the box, controller and right down to the console itself until there's nothing but little pieces of it left. It's a pretty hard to watch video especially if you're one of the folks who have been busting their butts off to try and get one and saving your pennies all year. To add fuel to the already burning fire, Captain Crunch states below the video to "Play more outside, less inside on your computer." If your eyes haven't already rolled hard into your head, that comment will surely do it.

As much as I understand the enjoyment that people have in watching objects get ground to a pulp, I can't help but think of the many positive ways this YouTuber could've supported different charities in need by giving the console to the likes of Get Well Gamers, a charity dedicated to bringing electronic entertainment to children’s hospitals, hospices and other facilities for the benefit of entertainment and pain relief. Understandably, the video hasn't been too popular with viewers and at this time of writing, it has received 3.6k downvotes massively outweighing the 845 upvotes. By the end of Captain Crunch's video that he calls an "experiment", the PS5 can be seen shredded to absolutely nothing but plastic and metal.

If you can stomach it, you can watch the video for yourself below but if you happen to have your very own PS5 in the same room with you, it's probably best you cover it over before pressing play!

We also learned recently that the PS5's DualSense controller has amazed Microsoft's, Phil Spencer. In an interview with The Verge, Phil stated that he "applauds" what Sony has done with the controller and thinks that "We should learn from each other and the innovation that we all push on, whether it’s distribution of business model like Game Pass, or controller tech, or the Wii back in the day, which clearly had an impact on us when we went off and did Kinect and Sony did the Move."
