There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies when it comes to games that are appearing on both PS4 and PS5. In the case of many upcoming cross-gen titles, cross-saves won't be compatible for one reason or another. This has proven to be true with both the PS5 remaster of Marvel's Spider-Man and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, most notably. However, in the case of other upcoming titles, this won't be an issue.Recently on social media, Insomniac Games' James Stevenson confirmed that the PS5 launch game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will boast cross-saves between PS4 and PS5. This means that if a player were to start the game on PS4 and then later upgraded to the next-gen system, they would be able to bring over their current progress. Stevenson didn't clarify if users would need to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus to take advantage of this feature (which typically is something that is needed to utilize cloud saves) but nonetheless, it'll be an option that is present.

While this is definitely good news for Miles Morales, again, it's so strange that this feature is inconsistently appearing for some titles but not others. What's even more bizarre is that publishers and developers for these titles in question aren't even necessarily giving concrete reasons as to why this feature is not being taken advantage of in all instances. Perhaps it has something to do with trophy lists not being identical across multiple versions? Again, it's hard to say, but from afar, this whole situation remains a bit confusing.

Regardless of the reasoning, at the very least, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be taking advantage of the system. The game is set to launch on both PS4 and PS5 later this fall on November 10.
