The first few months of a console’s launch are usually accompanied by some strange problems that need to be resolved by firmware updates, and Sony’s PS5 is no exception. In a recent comment by the community moderator of Samsung, an upcoming PS5 update in March 2021 will tackle the 4K-HDR and 120Hz issues. If you are going to ask what Samsung’s community manager has to do with this, let me break it down for you.

Since PS5’s launch in November 2020, some console owners who use a Samsung TV as their display device have been submitting issues around the unusual output from games on 4K resolution while turning on HDR and 120Hz features. While some people were confused about whether the issue was related to the Samsung TVs or PS5, the community manager of Samsung clarified that the TVs have no problem and don’t need any repairs or updates. He revealed that the issue is going to be resolved by a PS5 update in March 2021. He also asked all PS5 owners to update their consoles continuously.

Currently, if you have a similar problem and you can’t wait until the March PS5 update, you can either turn off the HDR feature or reduce the output refresh rate to 60Hz.

Aside from the issues above, Sony has also promised to bring external SSD support to PS5 with a firmware update in the future. It’s yet to be seen whether the Japanese giant is going to collaborate with another tech giant to produce special PS5 SSD storage, or will work out a new way, compared to Microsoft.

Currently, no PS5 consoles are left for sale for the official prices, but the ones that were already sold out feature 825 GB of SSD space, of which nearly 650 GB is usable. With the growing file size of games, this will cause an issue for PS5 owners in the future.
