Sony and Microsoft seem to be slowly rolling out information about their next-generation consoles. It's already August and we know that the PS5 and the Xbox Series X are expected Holiday 2020, most likely in November. However, neither console maker has revealed their release dates, how much they will cost, and when we can pre-order them. Rumors are running rampant that August will be when all is finally revealed.

In the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast, Imran Khan (Kinda Funny co-host and ex-Game Informer editor) says that he heard both Sony and Microsoft will discuss hardware -- which would include both price and availability -- sometime in August. He went on to say that he also heard that both have more software to show off as well. He wasn't sure if the latter would be announced this month, sometime before the launch or even after the consoles have been released.

Whenever the software reveals come, Khan says they both have things that are going to be like, ”oh shit, I can't believe they are revealing that here.” Regarding Sony specifically, he says, They are holding onto some things that I’m like really surprised they are holding onto and I wouldn't be shocked if they showed them soon.”

Rumors also abound that Sony will hold their next State of Play as soon as the first week in August. Along with several industry folks saying State of Play will happen soon, another clue could be that Sony has updated its Future of Gaming playlist. This is the same YouTube playlist that Sony used to compile all of their announcements from their most recent PS5 reveal event. It's possible we will finally see the official release information of the next Call of Duty, which was recently outed by a bag of Doritos as being Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

As mentioned above, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to launch sometime in Holiday 2020. Keep your eyes on DualShockers as more information becomes available.
