PSN vs XBLA is a Numbers Game

No big surprise really, looks like Sony and Microsoft will always rely on the numbers game to gauge who is the leader in consoles. Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai has recently announced that the PSN has 30 millions registered users compared to 23 million XBLA members. Here is the kicker though, neither Sony nor Microsoft have stated how many of those users are actually active and for Microsoft how many are Gold membership users. So both numbers could be way off.

The debate will no doubt go on forever. And of course stories such as this just will fuel the fire. The PlayStation Plus numbers are not in yet and to this writer, those numbers will tell the true tale. If Sony can sell the masses on a paid subscription then the rivalry will indeed be alive. But one great thing for gamers is this, no matter which service fills your need better, we will all be rewarded as both Sony and Microsoft try to out do each other. So I say, bring it on guys.
