PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has truly been one of gaming’s biggest phenomenons for the year with the game having surpassed over 20 million sales just a few weeks ago, and now those tuning in to the upcoming The Game Awards will get a first look at the future of the mega-popular.

The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley announced via Twitter that one of the big reveals coming to this year’s installment of the awards show is the first-ever look at gameplay for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ new map, which will bring players into a brand new desert environment. Of course, you can expect the first gameplay look at the map sometime during The Game Awards broadcast, which will occur on Thursday, December 7th at 5:30pm PT/8:30pm ET.

The desert map has been known for quite some time by PUBG players as screenshots of the map have been available to show the work-in-progress, but The Game Awards will mark the first time that players will be able to see the map in action and to get an idea of how the desert environment will add a unique spin to the tense action that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has provided in the months since it first debuted.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available on PC through Steam Early Access, and is coming to Xbox One’s Game Preview Program on December 12th. A full release of the game is also being targeted by the end of the year.
