Ever since its debut on Steam Early Access back in March of this year, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has become a phenomenon like few other titles, with the massively popular shooter having crossed over 15 million sales just a few weeks ago, with the game's upcoming Xbox One release looking towards a potential retail edition.

Speaking in an interview with IGNPUBG creator Brendan Greene (aka "PlayerUnknown") spoke a bit on the rapid success of the title and what he sees coming for the game in the future, Greene specifically responded with his hope for a retail release for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, most likely with the game's upcoming Xbox One version.

While Greene didn't explicitly confirm that a retail release should be expected, he did express that it would be cool to "walk into a retailer and seeing my game in the store," indicating that there could potentially be a retail release for the title on Xbox One down the line. However, Greene expressed that the team is focused more deeply on expanding the title through a "games as a service" model by expanding on new maps and other content for the game during its Early Access development.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on PC through Steam Early Access, and is expected to arrive later this year on Xbox One.
