Quake Champions Large Scale Test Coming on Friday; Adds New Game Mode
Quake Champions will be getting an all new large scale, open test, at the end of the week.
Today developer id Software announced that there will be a brand new, large scale, technical test for their upcoming game Quake Champions, coming very soon. The company also stated that this is an open beta, meaning anyone who wants a code will be able to get one, unlike their previous tests.
In addition to the announcement of the new test, id Software also announced a brand new game mode called Sacrifice, which is described as a 4v4, team-based competitive mode. The developer confirmed that players will be able to try out this new game mode during the technical test this week.
The developer also announced that, when the test goes live, the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) from the previous beta will be dropped. This means that players will be able to stream, capture, or share gameplay to their heart’s content.
The open beta is expected to take place from May 12th through May 21st. The game will be online 24/7 during this 9 day test, unlike the games previous tests, which were only playable during the weekend.
As of the time of this writing, Quake Champions doesn’t have a release date besides 2017. However, it is confirmed that the game will be both free-to-play, and purchasable. Previously, the game had a closed beta, which began on April 6th, 2017. It will be released exclusively on PC.
