Today, publisher Bethesda Softworks announced a new update for its Early Access first-person shooter title Quake Champions, which adds new features as well appropriately-themed festivities.

According to the press release, starting this Thursday, December 14, the game will receive its most extensive update to date; and will introduce a slew of new features into the game. This includes a new playable character named Keel, a reoccurring character in the Quake series who has made appearances in Quake 3 and Quake Live.

In addition to a new character being added to the roster, the impending update will also debut a brand-new map - Vale of Pnath, which will be available in Duel and 2v2 matches. On top of that, the multiplayer shooter is finally getting Ranked matches and leaderboards, which you can use to compare your statistics with other players across the world.

Lastly, as the holiday season approaches, Quake Champions is celebrating the most wonderful time of the year by adding holiday-themed items into the game; such as festive weapons shaders, holiday decorations on the Burial Chamber and Corrupted Keep, holiday hat vanities for the characters, as well as limited edition profile icons and nameplates.
