Not so long ago, we told you about MercurySteam’s third development diary for its upcoming 4 v 1 third-person brawler/shooter Raiders of the Broken Planet. The fourth development diary continues the discussion began in the previous installment, asking the question “does the world need another shooter?”

In the video provided below, Game Designer Joan Amat and Gameplay Programmer Hernan Ojuel talk about utilizing melee combat to gain the mythical Aleph, an energy source that can be used to power special abilities in game-changing ways.

Then, the duo dives into Raiders of the Broken Planet’s organic cover system, how levels and objectives dynamically shift, and how the game’s stealth system operates within all of it.

In Raiders of the Broken Planet, humanity discovers the ability to traverse enormous distances in space. When it reaches the other end of the universe, a “Broken Planet” awaits them, populated with factions that are violently protective of their rare power source, Aleph. Through singeplayer and multiplayer gameplay modes, players will fight as a four-person team of Raiders or as the Antagonist, who must strategize alone but wields a massive army of AI controlled soldiers.

Raiders of the Broken Planet is currently in closed beta. It is expected to come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
