Today, Ubisoft announced the Rainbow Six Siege event The Grand Larceny will begin today, and end on May 19.

The new Rainbow Six Siege event introduces The Stolen Goods game mode. This is rather different than any of the game's existing modes as there are no hostages, areas to secure, or bombs to defuse; also, there isn't a preparation phase and drones have been removed. Instead, Defenders are tasked with protecting Safeboxes around the map as Attackers attempt to steal them. A second win condition for both teams is if an entire team is eliminated.

According to the Ubisoft's page on the event, most Operators will be unlocked to play in The Grand Larceny event with a few exceptions. Each player will only have a shotgun and use skins from The Grand Larceny Collection and Roaring Riches Bundle. It will also feature a special version of the Hereford map; when destroying flooring, much of it will no longer have metal beams. Some creative uses for this can be seen in the trailer above.

As mentioned, the new Rainbow Six Siege event has its own Collection. With a total of 31 items, it includes customization for Operators Amaru, Fuze, Gridlock, Hibana, Maverick, Echo, Maestro, Kaid, Wamai, and Warden. You can get The Grand Larceny packs by completing Event Challenges or purchasing them for 300 R6 Credits or 12,500 Renown each. You can also purchase The Roaring Riches Bundle, which includes Deco Artistry signature weapon skin and the Crafted Six charm.

Personally, I think this mode looks like a ton of fun, and possibly a good way for newcomers to jump in. The Hereford map isn't my favorite, but turning up the destructibility and giving every Operator a shotgun seems like a ton of fun.

If you think this sounds like a good time, Rainbow Six Siege is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
