Ubisoft announced today that there is now a Rainbow Six Siege: Starter Edition available on Steam and Uplay for $15.  It will be on sale until June 19th.

Rainbow Six Siege: Starter Edition comes with all the modes, maps, weapons and features of the main game, but only gives the player two operators to start with.

When the players boot up the game, they randomly unlock two operators. That being said, the starter edition also comes with 600 R6 credits, which enables players to unlock two more operators, or spend it on other in-game content.

Players will be able to unlock the other operators by earning 12,500 renown, which is a much steeper price then it is for people who purchase the standard edition.  The Starter Edition is also compatible with the Rainbow Six Siege Season Pass, and the Daily/Weekly renown-boosting challenges.

This is a great way to breath life into a six month old game, and people are not locked into using Uplay, so this should prove successful for Ubisoft.

You can buy the game on the Rainbow Six Steam page here. The Rainbow Six Siege: Starter Edition is only available from June 2nd until June 19th, but players retain full access to the game after the period is over.
