Today, Ubisoft made two announcements pertaining to Rainbow Six Siege, one about when the game's next Operation will launch, and the other about an upcoming free weekend.

As we previously covered, Ubisoft recently announced Rainbow Six Siege Year 2's first operation, called Operation: Velvet Shell. The Spanish-themed operation includes a new map called Coastline, which is set in a nightclub in Ibiza, and two new Operators, one called the Jackal, who has already been detailed.

Today, Ubisoft announced that the Operation will launch on February 7th. As always, the map will be free to all players, while the two Operators will only be free if you own the Year Two season pass, otherwise you will have to unlock them via Renown or R6 credit.

As mentioned above, the Operation is Spanish themed, with the map being set in Spain, and with the Operators being themed around the Spanish special forces group Grupo Especial de Operaciones.

As for when news will come around about the second operator, Ubisoft has said it will share those details during a live demo of Velvet Shell on February 5, 2017 at 7 AM PST.

Ubisoft also announced today, that Rainbow Six Siege will be playable for free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this upcoming weekend, February 2-5. You can learn more about the free weekend here.
