Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart Getting World Premier Demo at Gamescom Opening Night Live
This will be the first time we've seen Rift Apart since it was announced in June.
Gamescom is one of many events affected by the Coronavirus this year. The show, which usually takes place in Germany, has opted like many others to move to an online format. Although it’s moving online, it shows no signs of going out with a whimper.
Opening Night Live as it’s been dubbed is the first night of Gamescom and is taking place this Thursday. It’s been promised, by the one and only Geoff Keighley, that the showcase will contain details from more than 20 different games. So far we’ve heard of a few of the games that will be appearing. They include the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and details on Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Season 2.
Now, revealed by Keighley on Twitter, we have information on another game that will be appearing. Initially shown off during the PS5 Reveal Showcase, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will be getting a “world premiere PlayStation 5 demo”.
When questioned on Twitter by somebody asking “Haven’t we already seen gameplay?” Keighley replies “This is a full, longer, uncut demo!”
Rift Apart is the first new Ratchet and Clank game since 2016 when a reimagining of the original game was released for the PS4. While the new game contains much of the classic Ratchet and Clank charm, there is plenty to get excited about. Based off what we saw during the PS5 showcase, the game contains some stunning graphics, new weapons, the rift mechanic and Lombax. Lombax is a new playable character who is described by developers Insomniac as a “mysterious new female” who is “from another dimension.”
Gamescom Opening Night Live is streaming this Thursday (August 26) at 8 pm CEST / 2 PM ET / 11 AM PT and can be watched at openingnightlive.com. Which game from the event are you most looking forward to seeing? Let us know in the comments below.
