Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of the most notable games we've seen for the PS5 so far, and during today's Gamescom Opening Night Live stream, we were able to get an even more extensive look at the title.

To close out today's show, Insomniac Games released nearly 10 minutes of new gameplay captured directly from a PS5 showing off the latest entry in the Ratchet & Clank series. The gameplay that was shown was a longer version of what Sony revealed themselves a few months back and again highlighted the PS5's ability to change environments at the drop of a hat without any additional loading. The video also gave us some brief glimpses of what the story for Rift Apart will consist of.

After the demo ended, Insomniac revealed some additional pieces of information about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Most notably, it was confirmed that the game itself will be coming to PS5 within the console's launch window. This likely means that we won't be seeing it hit store shelves in 2020, but the early part of 2021 seems likely.

As for other notable bits and pieces, it was revealed that this entry in the R&C franchise will take place chronologically after the events of Into the Nexus, which was the final mainline entry in the series that released on PS3. Additionally, the full experience is said to be playable from start to finish without any loading screens.

All in all, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart continues to look largely awesome and should be one of the first major system-seller titles for the PS5. Unfortunately for the console itself, we still don't know when it will be releasing or how much Sony will be charging for it, but we should hear more soon.
