Rayman Legends released to great critical acclaim on the last generation of consoles with its vibrant colors and fast-paced gameplay, with the upcoming Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch to incorporate new features for fans new and old of the title.

In an interview on Nintendo UK's YouTube channel, Ubisoft's Michel Ancel provided a few more details on the upcoming Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, which will bring over the acclaimed 2013 platformer to the Nintendo console/handheld hybrid, along with some added features.

Specifically, Ancel teased that Rayman Legends is suited for the Nintendo Switch because the title is "like a board game," explaining that "it means playing with your friends in the same room, and this console is perfect for that. It's the concept of console we've been waiting for a long time. An HD console, powerful, portable." Ancel also added that the new version of the game is "like a love story between Nintendo and Rayman because of course the colorful universe and the Rayman spirit go perfectly with Nintendo's spirit."

While the Switch version of the game will incorporate the new Kung Foot mode, Ancel teased that the Switch port will feature "several surprises" that - while not specifically detailed in the interview - will be aimed toward multiplayer experiences due to the console having "a lot of qualities in the multiplayer area."

Rayman Legends will release for the Nintendo Switch later in 2017 - you can check out the full video from Nintendo featuring Ancel below:
