Reach Hits $200 Million Sales on Day 1

Halo Reach has not only broke sales records for 2010, it has also broke the simultaneous players record for Xbox Live. The last in the series to made by Bungie however is not without a little controversy. Gamers who own the 4GB Xbox 360 are unable to play certain multi-player features which Microsoft has announced it is looking into. This would be a blow to sales if gamers who haven’t yet purchased the game were scared away due to fear of not being able to play. The UK is reporting that 300,000 units were sold in the first 24 hours alone. Now that is impressive for a one console exclusive.

“This is excellent news for the video games and interactive entertainment industry, demonstrating how games sales continue to increase despite difficult economic circumstances,” said Michael Rawlinson, director general of UKIE.

“With one in every three people classifying themselves as gamers, and with over half of UK households containing at least one videogames console, the UK videogames market is in great shape for the future.”
