The first title update for the Red Dead Online beta will be launching next week on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

This update will bring new Free Roam events, Showdown modes, Races, Weapons, Clothing, and Emotes for your Read Dead Online character. On the backend it will also introduce improvements and balances that were detailed last week and will effect weapon balancing, mini-map blips, and a new Law and Bounty system.

The Fool's Gold Free Roam event will be included in this update where players can compete to wear Golden Armor that protects you but also makes you a valued target by others. Earn points by getting kills while wearing the golden suit or fight others while trying to obtain it for yourself.

Fishing Challenges will be implemented and will equip your character with the necessary gear to take part in them depending on if you are fishing in a river, a swamp, or lake. Thankfully you will be safe from interference during this time as others will be unable to gun you down as you fish. You'll have to catch the highest weight total of fish in order to win.

Three new Showdown modes include Up in Smoke, Spoils of war, and Plunder. In these modes players will, "compete to capture and deliver bags, steal loot from each other and survive. " though no further details are given on the objectives and limitations of each mode. Races now have Target Races where players shoot targets while on horseback and have to pass checkpoints along a track.

Evans Repeater rifle and the Rare Shotgun will be added for players who want to add them to their armory. This repeater is "high grade, high capacity" and the shotgun is a "variation of the powerful double-barreled longarm." Both will be made available through the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue and local Gunsmiths.

Clothing is the best way to show off your Red Dead Online character and new clothes being introduced in this update are: the snake adorned Diamondback Hat to the fur trimmed Rutledge Vest, as well as new Outfits, Jackets, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. Keep an eye on the catalogue for timed items that won't be available forever. Greets, reactions, taunts, and more are also coming as potential emotes to use in Red Dead Online.

Those on PlayStation 4 have early access to Open Target Races where players on horseback will compete in an open space to take out the most targets. PlayStation 4 players also get the Jawbone Knife, new clothing options, and three new emotes alongside everything else detailed in this update.

For those who play Red Dead Online during this week will get 20% more XP in the lead up to this big update that is coming to Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode on February 26, 2019. Unfortunately those looking for more free gold bars will have to keep waiting, as it appears none will be given away with this update. Gold bars are the highest in-game currency you can have and the key to purchasing more items for your character. You can get a slightly closer look at what will be included in the update in the image gallery below.
