PlayStation Experience Heads to the Future with Attendee 2064: Read Only Memories
The PlayStation Experience starts today and it’s getting hard to keep track of all the games. Luckily some smart developers out there have been sending friendly reminders of their presence at the large scale event. MidBoss decided to keep us in the loop and send us an email about their graphic adventure game 2064: Read Only Memories.
The game was originally intended to release on the Vita and PS4 in late September. The team unfortunately ran into a number of certification problems which delayed the launch. Furthermore, the Vita port received the lions share of technical issues which delayed that version indefinitely. Eventually Midboss settled on a release window of January 2017 for the PS4 version of 2064: Read Only Memories.
After these issues and unintended delays, the devs got back on their feet preparing for PSX. Finally they have a chance to display their enhanced PlayStation port. They will be showing off the game along with a playable demo at Booth #B1017 for the convention. They will also have merch available to purchase and a chance to speak to the MidBoss team.
2064: Read Only Memories puts you in the shoes of a journalist investigating a disappearance in a futuristic San Francisco. The missing person happens to be an expert in artificial intelligence and had left behind his sentient robot, Turing. You end up entangled in a dangerous web of secrets, of course, and must untangle the web of mystery. Turing, as a Relationship Organizational Manager, is there to help you work things out and eventually solve the case.
The original game launched for PC in October of last year to critical acclaim. The 2064 version cleans up some of the graphics and puzzles while adding new side quests. As a side note, all versions of the original ROM will get a free update to the new port. The PSX booth will focus on the new voice acting and highlight the expressive talent behind the characters.
The vanilla version currently goes for $19.99 USD on Steam so the PS4 price should be similar. Only time will tell if MidBoss has some surprises in store for this weekend. The PlayStation announcement trailer is below.
