Today Bandai Namco released a large batch of screenshots of its upcoming strategy game Record of Grancrest War.
The game includes various types of events including the suppression of chaotic events, battles against goblins and lizards, and they’re all displayed on large battlefields, creating an almost MMORPG-like feel. By clearing quests, the player receives a reward including weapons and accessories. The time of completion and number of enemies killed determines the quest rank, which will influence the size of the prize.
In areas where the concentration of chaos is very high, especially powerful chaotic events can occur, including the appearance of a dragon.
Apparently, there is also plenty of fanservice scenes, showing previously unseen aspects of the life of Theo and his many waifus.
We also get plenty of screenshots of the battle of Sistina, and the introduction of Dorni, Salvdor, and Juzel Rossini. I won’t say much about this because it’d be a spoiler if you haven’t watched the anime yet.
Before each battle you can organize your soldiers, splitting them into units with up to five characters each. You can also choose their weapons, and as the level of your base increases so does the variety of the soldiers you can field. There will be over 450 characters that can join Theo’s army, and they can be encountered while progressing the story of by attacking their territory and asking them to join. Of course, among them, there are the original established characters of the anime.
It’s also possible to strengthen the bonds with those characters by talking them with you in battle. This will unlock parts of their profile that were previously hidden. This will also unlock new special abilities such as guard and dispel magic, increasing their power considerably.
Record of Grancrest War will release in Japan on June 14th exclusively for PS4. At the moment there is no announcement from Bandai Namco about a release for the west.
