Record of Ragnarok: Everything you need to know

Record of Ragnarok, or Shūmatsu no Walküre, is an upcoming anime based on a popular Japanese manga of the same name. Written by Shinya Umemura and illustrated by Ajichika, the Record of Ragnarok features mighty battles between Gods and humans.

Apparently, after every 1000 years, the Gods’ Council assembles to decide the fate of humanity. Interestingly, this council features a fictional version of several Gods, including Buddha, Thor, Zeus, Shiva, Odin, Loki, and many more. And these Gods decide that after 7 million years of wars and destruction, humanity must be completely wiped out.

However, Brunhilde, the eldest Valkyrie Sister, takes a stand for humanity and asks other Gods to give them a second chance. Eventually, everyone decides that the battle of Ragnarok would seal the fate of humanity.

In the tournament, 13 humans, picked by Brunhilde, would go against 13 Gods. If the human warriors manage to win 7 rounds, Gods will spare humanity from their wrath for the next 1000 years.

Now, that’s the main plot of Record of Ragnarok for you to get ready for Netflix’s anime adaptation. And if you are one to admire spectacular battles in anime, you should definitely watch the first season as soon as it arrives on the streaming platform.

Of course, it’s hard to say if the Netflix adaptation would live up to the manga. But honestly, the streaming platform has done an incredible job with other anime shows like Castlevania and DOTA. So, Record of Ragnarok could very well be another feather in the cap for Netflix.

When is Record of Ragnarok coming out?

The first season of Record of Ragnarok will come out on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.

Obviously, the show will be available exclusively on Netflix. So, it’s best to take a subscription to the streaming service if you don’t have it already.
