ReCore Developers Cite Metroid, Zelda as Inspirations; “Harks Back to a Different Era of Gaming”
After its initial reveal at this year’s E3 2015, the upcoming ReCore certainly seems to be one of the most intriguing new exclusive offerings from Microsoft and developers Armature Studios and Comcept Inc., and while more info on the game has been relatively quiet, some details about the game in a recent interview shed a little more light on the mysterious ReCore.
Speaking in an interview with The Verge, Armature co-founder and game director Mark Pacini gave a few more details on ReCore that while still a bit vague, at least provide some more info on upcoming title.
Specifically, Pacini detailed that ReCore, “at its heart, harks back to a different era in gaming,” with Pacini continuing that the game is “trying to put a new spin on it, based on games that myself and Inafune-san have done in the past that aren’t really being done anymore.”
Some of those titles that Pacini specifically mentioned as inspirations for the game included the Metroid and Zelda series, which isn’t too much of a surprise given that developer Armature Studios is headed by several of those that originally worked on the Metroid Prime
series, the critically-praised reboot that took the Metroid series and adapted it into a first-person adventure title, and it seems ReCore is aiming to evoke a similar experience based around exploration and uncovering its particular world.
ReCore is currently in development exclusively for Xbox One, and expected to release in 2016.
