An uplifting bunch of horse girls called The Rift Trails have taken over a server in Red Dead Online.

It's been a tough few years for everyone due to the pandemic and for many, the hobbies they loved to take part in came to a halt. Thankfully, due to the power of video games, some of those outdoors activities can be, in part, fulfilled online.

That's exactly what horse-lover and photographer Chelsea Farace found herself doing when COVID struck and couldn't get out to see her horse. She later found out that she wasn't alone and discovered a like-minded facebook group of horse-loving gamers called The Rift Trails who played Red Dead Online.

Now, the discord server boosts over 1,600 members of equestrian enthusiasts who take to the dusty roads and scenic mountains of Red Dead Online to share their love of horses and set off on relaxing trails together every week.

In the article via PC Gamer, Farace discusses how amazing it is to see how the horses respond to the games environmental features "The simplest things make us so happy! They react to gunshots and getting bumped into. People that aren't horse people might find that annoying because the horses have a mind of their own—but that's real! It's so cool!"

Another member of The Rift Trails and also the group's Discord moderator, MU5K_0X, says "The Rift is a place I can just be the gooey center without all the bravado of real life—a place where the friendships I have made are with the real me that usually hides behind all the BS." The group also make sure the server they use to get together on is a safe space for everyone and free from harassment that many can come across while in Red Dead Online.

This is so heartwarming to see and a really important space for those who are like-minded to be able to socialise and have fun together, especially so in a world where so many things are uncertain. I think I may just have to saddle up and get on board with this incredible group too!
