As we continue to near this Friday's launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar continues to divulge more information and release new content about the open-world game.

Today, that content has taken the form of a series of new images that feature two of Red Dead's most recognizable faces. John Marston, the protagonist from the original Red Dead Redemption, along with Dutch van der Linde have been featured in two throwback photos that are representative of the time period in which the game takes place.

The first image features both Dutch and Hosea, the two founding members of the van der Linde Gang riding on horses next to one another. Rockstar captioned the photo and said the following:

Dutch and Hosea met in their early twenties, two talented young con men with similar ‘gentleman thief’ aspirations and subversive ideals. They ran as two-man team for a few years until they started to pick up waifs and strays along the way.

As for the second image, it is a family picture of John Marston, his wife Abigail, and their son, Jack. Again, if you've played RDR1 then you should be familiar with all of these characters in this picture. As for the caption that Rockstar attached to this photo of the Marston family, it stated:

John has been with the gang ever since Dutch saved his life when he was just twelve years old. Abigail joined up with Dutch five or six years ago - and for young Jack, the gang is all he has ever known.

Neither of these images are all that important in the grand scheme of Red Dead Redemption 2's plot, but they're still neat to see. The picture of the Marston family specifically is a bit melancholy after knowing how Red Dead Redemption comes to an end. You can check out both pics at the bottom of the page.

If you weren't already counting down the minutes, Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives later this week on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. Currently, you can begin pre-loading the game onto your console of choice if you've purchased RDR2 digitally. If you'd like to pick up a physical copy early, you can also head over to retail store Target on Thursday night to pick it up.

Oh, and be sure to enter our giveaway here at DualShockers where we'll be giving five lucky readers a digital copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases this Friday.

UPDATE: Rockstar just released another throwback photo, this time of the Del Lobo Gang, which we've also attached with the other pictures.
