During Take-Two's quarterly investor conference call, Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick talked about Red Dead Redemption 2, which was recently delayed to October 26th, 2018.

Asked about the reasons behind the decision, Zelnick mentioned that the entire focus of the company is on delivering the highest entertainment experience possible. All of Take-Two's labels are focused on releasing games when they reach the "apex of effort and perfection."

In this instance, Rockstar felt that more polish was required, and "naturally" Take-Two is in favor of that decision.

According to Zelnick, the October 26th release "is set," and he is confident on hitting that release date.  He also mentioned that the Holiday season can be a "really powerful time" and he feels that while there may be more competition, it's "a lot more of an open field" today then it was ten years ago. That's why the publisher is "very excited" about the release and its timing.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled to launch for both PS4 and Xbox One. During the call, Take-Two was asked about potential other platforms but declined to comment.
