It's no secret that Gamestop has been struggling lately. Between digital marketplaces taking up more sales and repeated changes in infrastructure to modernize the brand, Gamestop has been floundering. It may not be surprising then, that the company has taken on some new members to help guide it back to success. Along with appointing former President and CEO of Walmart, William Simon, and former President and CEO of PetSmart, James Symancyk, Gamestop is bringing in the Regginator himself, former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.Announced through a press release, these new appointments are part of "a comprehensive search process led by the Board of Directors and involving shareholder input." On the topic of new appointees, Gamestop CEO George Sherman said: "We look forward to immediately benefitting from their expertise and perspectives as we navigate the evolving gaming and retail environments, execute on our strategic initiatives and prepare the Company to maximize value creation associated with the next generation of console launches later this year.”

Symancyk and Simon will both be assuming their roles in Gamestop's Compensation Committee and Audit Committee respectively immediately. Reggie, on the other hand, will be appointed as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee on April 20, 2020.

Reggie commented on the appointment on his Twitter, saying "The gaming industry needs a healthy and vibrant GameStop. I look forward to being a part of GameStopCorp Board and helping to make this happen."
