Remember Me’s Melee Combat to be Inspired by Street Fighter

As if the game did not seem to resemble enough intellectual properties. Personally, I found similarities with Mirror’s Edge, Assassin’s Creed, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution in the realm of video games, as well as Inception, Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report in the realm of film. While the aforementioned games and film have not been confirmed nor denied to be part of the influence in Capcom’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Remember Me, there is one game that we can definitely add to the list.

That game would be Street Fighter. It was recently confirmed by Eurogamer that the fighting franchise’s producer, Yoshinori Ono, will be providing advice and guidance behind-the-scenes at Dontnod Entertainment on Remember Me’s fighting system. Much of the combat will be comprised of an array of combos, dodges, and finishers, all of which will be augmented by a special power wheel as the player progresses through the game. “What we tried to is keep those combos as accessible as possible so they don’t take too much skill to perform,” Dontnod Entertainment Co-Founder and Creative Director, Jean-Maxime Moris, told Eurogamer.

Remember Me is being developed by Dontnod Entertainment and will be published by Capcom for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on an unspecified date in May of next year.
