This morning, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that a new model of their current wireless headset, the Gold Wireless Headset would be heading to U.S. retail stores sometime this month.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the new model will cost $99.99 and offers a svelte design with subtle over-ear cushions to accommodate gamers who enjoy extended gaming sessions. The company also confirmed that the new headphones would include 7.1 virtual surrounds, a 3.5mm audio cable, a wireless adapter, a Type-A to micro-B USB Cable, as well as noise-canceling hidden microphones.

Although the product will be compatible with mobile devices as well as your PlayStation 4, the most significant selling point is that the new Gold Wireless headset will be congenial with the PlayStation VR, which was designed to provide additional comfort as well as immersion when using a PlayStation VR.

Speaking of new first-party gaming peripherals, last week, Sony announced that it was adding two new color schemes to its line of DualShock 4 controllers - Midnight Blue and Steel Black. Both of these colors will be available in U.S. and Canada retail stores sometime this March for $64.99 USD (MSRP)/$74.99 CAD (MSRP) each. Of course, if you are interested in adding an official PlayStation third-party controller into your collection, consider purchasing Hori's new controller the Onyx, which is now available.
