Wall Street Journal reported that Nintendo will announce two new Nintendo Switch models as soon as Summer 2019, to sustain the sales of the console.According to the newspaper, one of the new Switch models is based on high-performance and high-specs, targeting players interested in these aspects, following a similar concept than Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro. The newspaper also stresses out that judging by information from part suppliers and software designers, the high-spec model won't be as powerful as a PlayStation 4 Pro or an Xbox One S.Meanwhile, the other new Switch model is reported to be a smaller and less powerful version of the original Nintendo Switch, sold at a bargained price. This cheaper model is reported to not include the HD Rumble vibration function. The Wall Street Journal article also included comments from a source who saw these new Switch models. The commenter stated that "the cheaper model's shape is very surprising, and you'd be wrong to think it looks like a portable console like the PlayStation Vita".

Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki mentioned on Twitter that "this is what I was doing during GDC in San Francisco", giving even more credibility to the report. The GDC, the 2019 Game Developers Conference, was held from March 18 to March 22.

Nikkei reported back in January that Nintendo is planning to launch a cheaper and smaller model of Nintendo Switch, and how the model should release before the end of fiscal 2019 (March 2020).

It's possible Nintendo will reveal these new Switch models during E3 2019.
