Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 will all be coming to the next generation of consoles later this as Capcom confirms official PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the popular horror titles.

All three titles will reportedly receive "visual enhancements" and will be available to those who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the games at no extra cost.

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 Are Coming To PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Both Resident Evil 2 and 3 received completely from the ground up remakes back in 2019 and 2020, respectively. But it looks like Capcom is giving us yet another reason to jump back into these classic titles as both remakes will soon be visually upgraded for the next-gen consoles.

2017's Resident Evil 7 will also be receiving a next-gen upgrade for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. All three titles are reportedly set to include ray-tracing, increased frame rate, and 3D audio, according to Gematsu.

For those on the PlayStation 5, there will also reportedly be DualSense support for the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

Existing owners of all three titles will be receiving the upgrade at no additional cost. Whilst PC players are also set to receive free upgrade patches when the next-gen versions launch later this year.

Resident Evil 3 can currently be purchased for 60% off on the PlayStation Store until March 16th, whilst Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7 both remain at full price.

Unfortunately, Capcom didn't give a specific release date for the next-gen upgrades, simply stating that they would be arriving "later this year". Although this is sure to keep fans busy for a while, we're all still eagerly awaiting the announcement of a Resident Evil 4 remake.

Some fans have even gone as far as to create their own stunning HD remakes for the now 17-year-old title.
