The team at Capcom has had quite the busy week. Not only they just announce a massive game coming in early 2020 yesterday, but they've also revealed that their little remake of Resident Evil 2 did incredibly well. The retelling of the romantic date night of Jill Valentine and Mr. X recently blew past five million units sold, making it a bigger success than the 1988 original. I'm sure those stellar sales numbers had a little something big to do with the announcement below.

In all seriousness, it's great to see Resident Evil making a comeback in such a major way. As a kid who probably a little too into the Resident Evil lore (I still own all those S.D. Perry novels), seeing one of my favorite franchises reinvigorated is such a joy. And the RE team is doing some awesome work in the process of updating the games for modern audiences.

For example, Mr. X is among the best moments in gaming this year. His constant threat in the Raccoon City police station is bone-chilling and innovative. When you think about how they can translate his interactions to Nemesis in Resident Evil 3, I'm already salivating. I mean, it's the same concept, but Nemesis also has a rocket launcher. It's terrifyingly exciting.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you're not among the five million-plus who have already purchased the game, then I highly recommend you do so. Make sure you play it quickly, as the Resident Evil 3 Remake is coming out on April 3. That's right around the corner.
