Multiple people across social media are already sharing images and video from Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake, which won't hit its official release date for nearly two weeks, on March 24.The original Resident Evil 4 released exclusively for Nintendo Gamecube in early 2005, following protagonist Leon Kennedy as he tried to rescue the US president's daughter from a village full of cultists. The game arrived on the PlayStation 2 later that year as the first of many ports, re-releases, and remasters. However, the release scheduled for March 24 is a remake, and while remakes tend to stay true to the original, there are usually new gameplay and plot elements to throw in twists for returning players and make the game more palatable for a modern crowd that may be picking it up for the first time.RELATED: Resident Evil: The 10 Best Puzzles In The FranchiseWhile we won't get into specifics here, in order to preserve the game's integrity prior to its release, new elements certainly seem to be in abundance based on the leaks that are already out there. While it certainly wouldn't be an unprecedented move for Capcom to try to get the major leaks removed from social media sites, the game comes with a high level of anticipation, and that will make it difficult for social media users to avoid spoilers for the next 13 days. Fans who want to keep the surprises intact ought to browse with caution until after the official release.

Luckily, those players who are excited for the upcoming release, but who would rather wait to get behind the controller to see exactly what's in store in the finished version, have a distraction in the form of a free demo released by Capcom on Thursday. Packaged with the name The Chainsaw Demo by the publisher, the demo takes players from the start of the game through roughly the first 20 minutes. The demo will be available straight through the finished game's launch date.

The demo places no time limit on the player, so you're free to play through it as many times as you like, and some people have been lucky enough to stumble upon an enhanced difficulty mode that seems to pop up at random. While the harder Mad Chainsaw Mode won't be included in the finished game, the quest to find it could keep Resident Evil fans occupied and staying away from leaked information online for a while.
