In one of the highly anticipated parts of yesterday's Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom officially shared a new trailer for Resident Evil 4 Remake as well as an extended gameplay showcase detailing the game's combat system and resource management.

Speaking of the cinematic trailer, Capcom provided a first look at Ashley Graham and Ada Wong, two critical characters in the Resident Evil 4 story that players are more than happy to meet once again. The trailer also revealed the leader of the cult village as well as some gigantic creatures that players will need to defeat in their deadly adventure to rescue Ashley.

After the trailer, Capcom also shared extended gameplay footage from the title, which shows off the game's incredible visuals and realistic lighting system. During the footage, players can watch Leon fighting with villagers and using new abilities to survive. According to the developers, they have enabled melee attacks for Leon to add more diversity to the game's combat mechanics. Also, the villagers will now attack in different ways compared to the original version, which makes players quickly react to their attacks with the tools provided for Leon to protect himself.

The resource management system will still be a key feature in the game similar to the original version. Players will need to tidy up their inventory to open up space for new items. Also, the crafting system will allow players to create new and more effective items.

The merchant will be back as well. Players can purchase new weapons, or customize their own guns for better functionality. A new trading mechanic has also been added to the merchant, which will allow players to exchange their collected Gems for special items that can be weapons, herbs, or documents.

Capcom made it clear that they want to create a faithful remake of Resident Evil 4 that makes use of modern gameplay systems to become an enjoyable experience for both veterans of Resident Evil and newcomers to the series.

The publisher announced that Resident Evil 4 will be coming to PS4 as well, but there is no Xbox One version planned for now. The PS4 version can be upgraded for free to PS5.
