The official Japanese Twitter account for Resident Evil has confirmed that the VR mode for the remake of Resident Evil 4 has now entered development. A follow-up tweet by the account confirmed that the mode will be released as a free DLC for the PlayStation VR2, which was released today."VR mode of "Resident Evil RE: 4" has started development! Stay tuned for more details", the translated tweet reads. The account then follows up with, "VR mode of "Resident Evil RE: 4" will be distributed as free DLC for PlayStation5 / PlayStationVR2."

A firm release date for the VR mode is yet to be confirmed, but as the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 is set to be released on March 24th, it's unclear as to whether or not it will be made available from day one. It's possible that the announcement was made to celebrate the launch of the PlayStation VR2, which is now available worldwide.

Capcom also deployed a VR mode DLC for Resident Evil Village today, which is completely free to any original owners of the game on PlayStation 5. The new mode allows users to play through the entire Resident Evil Village storyline with the PlayStation VR2. For anyone that doesn't own a copy of Resident Evil Village on PlayStation 5, there is a demo version of the VR mode also available.

In other VR news, PlayStation recently confirmed that a new State Of Play event was set for this Thursday. Alongside a deep dive into Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the event will also showcase new VR games coming to the PSVR 2 later this year.

Hours before the release of the PSVR 2, PlayStation revealed 10 new titles for its new VR headset, including Swordsman VR, Another Fisherman's Tale, Gorn, and more. With the recently announced titles added to the lineup, over 40 games are available for the launch of the PSVR 2. The headset is available now, but will set you back $549.99.
