Capcom has released a slew of new details for Resident Evil 6, and the game is looking juicy as more of them emerge.
We’ve already been told that series regular Chris Redfield will be heading to China. His main destination is the fictional town of Lanshiang. The events of the game are set in the year 2013. RE6 will feature a completely new, redesigned control system that allows players to shoot while moving, slide, and roll in any direction. There will be a special melee attack, enhanced for multiple takedowns and greater damage.
Obviously the zombies are back but are a completely different, more intense breed: they now possess the abilities to run, jump on you, and even use weapons. Accompanying them is the mysterious J’avo, Serbian for “demon,” an aggressive creature that still exhibits certain human characteristics. The J’Avo can understand speech, work in groups and also use weapons. J’Avos can regenerate after taking damage, but should one take major damage it will mutate its injured body parts into different forms. Yikes.
As for our characters, Capcom has provided a few tidbits of backstory that lead into the conflict of RE6. Leon Kennedy has been recruited as a U.S. government agent by Adam Benford, who has since become the country’s President. His companion, Helena Harper, is also a government agent; however, at the time of the events of RE6, she has been trying to transfer to the Secret Service.
Meanwhile, in China, Chris Redfield has rejoined his BSAA buddies in an attempt to thwart a massive bioterrorist attack. Floating on the periphery of all this is the “mysterious third protagonist,” a man without a name or identity (as of yet) who is a mercenary working in Eastern Europe. One day someone tells him that he will be “the man to save the world.” His first thoughts: how much money he can make from it.
Stay tuned for more information goodies, as we will be reporting them as they come. Are you excited for the next installment in the Resident Evil series?
