In a crazy announcment, developer Capcom has revealed that Biohazard 7: Resident Evil (the Japanese version of the West's Resident Evil 7: Biohazard) will be coming to Nintendo Switch beginning May 24, 2018. According to the trailer below, all of this will be accomplished through a standalone cloud-streaming software via the Nintendo eShop.

Seen in the trailer below, this version would not only include the main game but also the two add-on DLC's, Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2. Titled Biohazard 7: Resident Evil Cloud Version, the game will -- obviously -- be running off a dedicated cloud service. Obviously this brings added implications to the gameplay experience. Depending on your connection, there may be lags or connectivity issues and the save date will be located on the server side.

What's even more interesting is the game acts as more of a service than a one-time payment. For instance, instead of buying the game outright, gamers will be spending 2,000 yen (tax included) -- roughly $18 -- to get a pass for the game for 180 days. After that, you would need to repurchase the ticket again.

Instead of the 24 GB of space required for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the game will only require 45 MB to download and run the cloud service titled RE7 Cloud -- saving about 99.84% of space, not including the DLC. That is a godsend for the Nintendo Switch, which is limited to 25 GB without external memory.

After downloading the RE7 Cloud service from Nintendo Switch's eShop, players will get to try a free trial of the game for 15 minutes. After that, players can purchase the game for the 180 day ticket. This should give enough time for Nintendo Switch owners to figure out if there connection is sufficient to run the cloud service.

There is no official word if we will being a Western version of this game, a Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Cloud Version. With that said, it seems like money left on the table if Capcom isn't already looking to pursue this, or even for other games like Monster Hunter World. Also, this is a huge boon for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard growing its sold copies past the five million unit mark.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard and its various DLCs are available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — and you can grab that Gold Edition on sale over at Amazon. The game can also be played while using the PlayStation VR headset. Check out the trailer for the Japanese cloud version below:
