"Got something that might interest ya"

If you were able to get into the latest Resident Evil Village "Castle Demo" and not get too confused with the weird timeslots in the process, you may or may not have noticed a little Easter egg tucked away on your travels around Castle Dimitrescu.

Although Capcom's soon to be released title can be played by newcomers, the developers have slipped in a reference that will ring a bell with players of Resident Evil 4 and what is also known as apparently the best one of the franchise due to the camera's fixed perspective.

Resident Evil 4 was the first game in the Resi world to include a shop in which players could buy much-needed items and also sell things they didn't need anymore for coin. It was also the first time players of the game would be introduced to one of the most iconic characters, the merchant.

In Resident Evil Village’s “Castle Demo,” you come across a shopkeeper in one of the lower floor rooms who goes by the name of Duke. Whenever players begin a conversation with Duke, he asks “What’re ya buying?” and continues that it was something an "old friend" used to say.

This is, of course, a call-back to the merchant from RE4 who used to say this line when players would interact with him to buy or sell. So, it seems as though the Duke knew the merchant and are friends, in some fashion, or maybe we will see a greater connection as players progress through the game?

You can check out the Resident Evil Village Easter egg for yourself below which also includes the "What're ya buyin?" RE4 merchant reference, too.

Resident Evil Village will launch on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
