As one of the most anticipated titles of 2021, Resident Evil: Village is on track to deliver a next-gen horror experience sometime later this year. Though the series is traditionally known for its atmospheric single-player stories, the next installment in the series seems like it will once again dabble in multiplayer according to early details that have leaked.

According to the description for Village on the Humble Bundle Store page, it seems that the eighth mainline title in the series will include a multiplayer component called Resident Evil Re:Verse. As noted by Humble Bundle, pre-ordering the game includes access to the Re:Verse mode alongside a bonus pack of items called the "Trauma Pack."

You can check out the additional details on Village below from the Humble Bundle store:

At the moment there isn't a ton to go off of about what Re:Verse actually is or plays like, but with the Resident Evil Showcase around the corner for later today, it's likely that we won't have to wait too much longer to learn more. As announced last week, the upcoming showcase will share more information and details on Village alongside new gameplay footage; it also seems like Re:Verse will get its official reveal during the showcase today.

Resident Evil has obviously been no stranger to multiplayer, as last year's Resident Evil 3 remake included its own multiplayer component called Resident Evil: Resistance. However, the series' multiplayer reception has been a bit more spotty compared to its single-player offerings, so we'll have to see what Re:Verse can do to shake up the formula and integrate what the series is best at: tense, atmospheric horror that has players trying to stay alive at all costs. Of course, we'll have to see what that is like when you're being pursued by an incredibly tall and attractive vampire lady.

Resident Evil: Village will release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2021.
