After the success of Resident Evil 7 VR, Capcom is all set to bring Resident Evil Village to PlayStation VR2 as well

Released back in 2021, Resident Evil Village had to carry the baton forward from Resident Evil 7, which was not quite an easy thing to do considering the incredibly high standard set by the title. However, it did live up to the expectations and did surpass its predecessor in terms of its success on multiple fronts. Resident Evil Village was a direct continuation of Resident Evil 7, bringing players back in the shoes of Ethan Winters who embarks on a journey to save his daughter.

In the latest State of Play held by PlayStation earlier today, Capcom has announced its plans to bring Resident Evil Village to PlayStation VR2. In the trailer, fans get to see Ethan Winters, and also a close-up encounter with the terrifying-yet-heartthrob-of-many, Lady Dimitrescu.

From the looks of it, the game looks pretty similar to the regular Resident Evil Village, which is not a surprise considering that Capcom doesn't make a lot of changes to the VR installments of its games. Apart from the short trailer, we don't get to see much about the game. In fact, the release date is missing too. It could very much be a launch title for the PlayStation VR2, or we might see a release date getting announced once VR2 hits the market.

Along with the immersive VR experience, players will also be getting a chance to use a number of features in Resident Evil Village VR. In a blog post, Sony adds "In addition to the PS VR2 headset, you’ll use the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to represent each hand in-world. Try guarding using both of your arms and Ethan will guard in the same way; hold up a gun and Ethan will hold up his. You are also now able to execute dynamic actions such as firing your gun while holding a knife with the other hand, or holding a handgun with one hand and a shotgun with the other. These advanced controllers increase the player’s immersion with the game."

While the VR adaption of Resident Evil Village is quite a good thing to have, fans are a tad disappointed with the absence of the DLC reveal. The DLC was announced last year and fans are eagerly waiting for its arrival, but Capcom has been quite tight-lipped about it as of now. Considering that Capcom has multiple projects in development when it comes to the Resident Evil franchise, it shouldn't be surprising to see the DLC not hitting platforms this year at all.
