Retro City Rampage DX Coming to Nintendo Switch on July 27th
The Switch is getting a new 8-bit open-world crime action-adventure next week with Retro City Rampage DX.
A new lisiting on the European Nintendo eShop has revealed that Vblank Entertainment’s 8-bit open-world action-adventure game, Retro City Rampage DX, is coming to the Nintendo Switch on July 27th.
For those that don’t know: Retro City Rampage first released back in October of 2012 on PS3, PS Vita, and PC. A few months later it came to Xbox 360 and then Wii, where it was a WiiWare title.
An enhanced version of the game, Retro City Rampage DX, was then released on Nintendo 3DS in 2014. And now the indie is making its way over to Nintendo’s newest piece of hardware: the aforementioned Switch.
The following brief elevator pitch of the game is provided:
Retro City Rampage reimagines the open world crime genre like it’s 1989. Jump on civilians for coins—then steal their car and outrun the law! Explore the city and complete missions, or just go on a rampage with your weapons, power-ups, and vehicles!
The game includes a full Story mode, plus Arcade Challenges for quick pick-up-and-play action. There are plenty of interactive shops around the city to explore, mini-games to play (which includes crossovers with Minecraft, Super Meat Boy, and more), collectibles to collect, and things to customize.
There are over 60 story missions, 40 arcade challenges, 25 different weapons and power-ups, 50 vehicles, 200 character customization options, and over 2.5 hours of chiptune music.
According to the listing, Retro City Rampage will cost $14.99 USD.
