A group of "gamers, and seasoned industry professionals" have launched a new Indiegogo campaign that is seeking $1.95 million in order to fund the creation of a cartridge-based console that bucks the modern trends of system updates and game patches. Instead the Retro VGS will rely only on cartridge games developed for that console. With retro indie games littering new releases with their reliance on classic gameplay and graphics, those behind Retro VGS believe there will always be a market so long as people long for retro games.

Currently for games the major players are Wayforward (Shantae) and prior Intellivision developers, as well as: The Adventures of Tiny Knight (pack-in), Gunlord, Knight's Chance, Adventures in the Tower of Flight, Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death, Read Only Memories, Songbringer, and potentially Double Dragon Trilogy, Peir Solar, Last Hope Pink Bullets, and Jeffrey Wittenhagen's Black Box Challenge.

You can get a better understanding of the full details on the campaign by watching the video below and reading their Indiegogo post.
