Returnal, The Latest Game From Housemarque, Has Been Delayed to April 2021

Returnal, the PS5 exclusive game from Resogun developer Housemarque, has been delayed from March 19th to April 30th, 2021.

In a Twitter post, PlayStation has announced that Returnal, the latest game from Housemarque, has been delayed to the end of April 2021. The game’s original release date was March 19, 2021.

“Update: Returnal has a new release date of April 30, 2021,” says PlayStation. “SIE and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque.”

The game follows Selene, a space explorer who’s trying to escape a shape-shifting planet. Along the way, she not only discovers secrets about the planet, but also about her past. With each time Selene dies, she’s sent back to the beginning of the game. Returnal is a mix between a third-person roguelike and developer Housemarque’s standard bullet-hell shooter. The developer’s previous games include Super Stardust Ultra and Resogun.

Returnal won’t be the only major game releases at the end of April. New Pokemon Snap on Nintendo Switch releases the same day. Additionally, Capcom releases Resident Evil: Village on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Housemarque’s latest game was announced during PlayStation’s Future of Gaming Showcase. During Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards, PlayStation announced the game’s first release date and gameplay. More recently, Housemarque provided more details on the game’s combat.

Returnal releases on April 30, 2021 on PlayStation 5. You can watch a trailer for it below. Stay tuned to DualShockers for more on Returnal and other next-gen news.
