After a cliffhanger episode that teased multiple versions of Loki, we finally got to see all of them in the fifth episode including the Classic Loki played by Richard E. Grant.

The fifth episode titled "Journey Into Mystery," was indeed glorious as we saw Loki trying to escape The Void, a desolate purgatory where he meets variant versions of himself.

But the MVP award in this episode goes to Grant whose role was crucial in shaping the story ahead.

Richard E Grant Suiting Up As Classic Loki At Age 64

Today, Loki guest star Richard E. Grant tweeted a BTS photo of himself as the God of Mischief's Classic variant. The picture showed him in the Loki costume with tights and make-up.

In the tweet, he remembered his late father's question from 40 years ago, asking Grant whether he really wants to spend his life in make-up and tights.

Seeing that he's still at it even at the age of 64, Grant said that his father would have definitely cackled with laughter.

Richard E Grant's role in Loki was limited to one episode only but he fulfilled his 'glorious purpose' as a God of Mischief.

We saw various Lokis from different timelines who were pruned and sent to the Void — a Limbo of sorts where they can't mess with the Sacred Timeline.

But Loki being Loki, decides to outwit the all-matter-consuming monster Alioth, and uncover the truth behind the Time Variance Authority (TVA).

The Classic Loki played by Grant plays an important role in this episode as he performs his final act with a powerful sacrifice in order to save the other Lokis. He uses magic to conjure a projection of Asgard to distract Alioth and buy some time while Loki and Sylvie join hands to enchant the monster.

Classic Loki ends up being directly in Alioth's path and as a result, gets annihilated. Despite meeting a tragic end, he dies with satisfaction that he had found his glorious purpose at last.

The Classic Loki's storyline introduced by Marvel and the commitment that Grant imparted in this role took fans by surprise.

The finale of Loki that is Episode 6 is scheduled for a release next Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

While fans are a bit sad the first season is approaching its end, they are also curious to know whether the mystery of TVA ends here or not. Audiences have been coming up with all sorts of theories regarding who created TVA, what Miss Minutes knows, and what Renslayer and Mobius would do next.

We are hoping to find the answers in the Castle of Doom/Castle Limbo that is shown at the end of episode 5 after Alioth gets enchanted and the veil is lifted.

Right now, all we can do is wait and see how the creators end the series or set up several new events for Marvel Phase 4.
