Risen Coming to North America Compliments of Deep Silver

January 18, 2010

Deep Silver announced today that the Xbox 360 version of the European-developed RPG Risen will be coming to North America in February.  There isn’t much to say, as this RPG follows the typical formula of every other RPG of its style in existance.  Massive, open world?  Check.  Dialog choices affecting your game play?  Check.  Dark, medieval setting?  Check.  You guys know the drill.  Are we tired of these these type of RPGs yet?  No?  Ok, here’s what Geoff Mulligan, Deep Silver’s COO, had to say about the title, hyping it up in a way that probably isn’t in line with gamers’ true feelings at this particular juncture.

“We’re incredibly excited about RISEN and the opportunity to publish it in North America.  What we bring to market is a deep, immersive RPG that Xbox 360 gamers have been clamoring for. RISEN is going to start off this year for RPGs in an amazing way.”

Dude, Geoff, you’re a cool guy and all, but I don’t know if you’ve noticed – we are actually kind of overloaded with this style of RPG lately.  Dragon Age: Origins (and it’s expansion in March), Divinity II…now Risen.  I’m starting to get burned out.  When is FFXIII going to get here?  Oh yeah, March 9.  February is dead to me.
