Kadokawa Corporation announced an indie Steam game adaptation for Shield Hero. The game is titled The Rising of the Shield Hero: Relive The Animation and will launch on Steam this September. Only a Japanese version is planned for now.

The Rising of the Shield Hero: Relive The Animation is described as an indie game developed with RPG Maker MV. The game uses multiple screens from the Shield Hero anime, and is a "full-fledged 2D RPG" recreating the world of Merlot Marc.

The Rising of the Shield Hero: Relive The Animation also incorporates Shield Hero's story elements into its gameplay, with a system to know which ally will get targetted next and how to cover them with Naofumi.

Personally speaking, I haven't read the novel, read the manga, nor watched Shield Hero's anime, so I can't say I'm particularly interested in this game. Judging from reactions in early 2019, when the anime adaptation started, it seems to be one of the best Isekai boom works out there. The anime got 25 episodes from the getgo too, meaning it's a relatively popular franchise. To be honest, though, being "one of the best Isekai" doesn't mean much considering the low quality of the vast majority of these stories.

Anyway. Shield Hero Relive The Animation's Steam page can be accessed here. The game's announcement trailer and first screenshots are included below.

Update: The game's official site also mentions it's coming to iOS and Android at some point in "Fall 2019" instead of September. An English version is also supposed to come in Fall 2019.
