Forecast for the Week Calls for Risk of Rain on PS4 and Vita via Limited Run Games: OST Also Avail
Limited Run Games is up to their old tricks of taking really good PlayStation games and getting them out in physical form. The lucky title this time is Risk of Rain, the roguelike platformer that first released on the PS4 and Vita (digitally) in April 2016. This new run will be coming to us on May 26 for $24.99 USD for both systems. And as an added bonus, a bundle with a vinyl soundtrack and both versions of the game (handheld and console) will be available on the same day for $79.99 USD.
If you’re not familiar with the game, here is a quick summation. You play as the last survivor of downed spaceship on a hostile planet. From there you must activate gates that will take you from one level to next until you find your way back to your ship. However, this planet must have something crazy in the water, since enemies are constantly respawning and the longer you play, the stronger and more relentless they get.
Loot, artifacts, and special abilities are there to help you survive in Risk of Rain but everything to get and will get must be used in moderation. The player that runs in blind with all cylinders firing will be the first to die over and over again.
Like all of Limited Run’s releases, there will only be a specific amount of physical copies made available. The PS4 and Vita batch will consist of 4000 items per system. The special edition bundle with the vinyl will only have the a minuscule run at 450 copies. Speaking of the OST, they will also be sold separately for $32.99 USD.
The soundtrack is available from Black Screen Records for €24 (approx 27 USD) but the Limited Run version will have a unique variant cover and specially colored LPs.
All three different copies or bundles will be released at the same time on May 26th. Actually, there will be two points during the day where orders will be open. The first will be at 10am EST where the second period will be at 6pm EST.
You can keep on refreshing the official Limited Run site if a physical copy of Risk of Rain for the PS4 and Vita appeals to the collector in you. But as always, don’t let this one wait too long if you’re on the fence. These things sell out fast and the spoils always goes to those that are sure of what they want.
