Go Behind the Scenes with Robert Kazinsky as the Archon in Mass Effect: Andromeda

Today, developer BioWare and publisher EA released a new behind the scenes-type video that features Pacific Rim, EastEnders, and Sky One star Robert Kazinsky who voices and plays the main antagonist: Archon.

For those that don’t know: Archon is the obsessive leader of his species: the kett, who are the dominant force in the Helius Cluster, where the game takes place.

According to Kazinsky, the Archon’s main purpose is the “desperate search for perfection,” where he looks for the best aspects of a species and incorporates said traits into himself, in order to create the perfect being.  Further, his goal is to “bring up” a species, aka to improve it and make it better. And in this cold and calculated process, Archon believes he’s doing the right thing: making species better at surviving and prospering.

Because the Arhcon lives for a millennia, he is very emotionless and void of any urgency or impatience. He is simply — at least most of the time — cold and calculated and not troubled by what troubles a human who only live maybe a dozen decades at best.

The video also goes into how Kazinsky is very honored and happy to be a part of what he describes as his favorite series ever in gaming.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
