Popular game platform Roblox is expanding into the new and uncharted territory of television via two new projects. The first show that has been announced is based on the survival game Creatures of Sonaria.

The new animated series is being produced by Wind Sun Sky Entertainment and will be overseen by CEO Catherine Winder, whose past credits include time as an executive at Lucasfilm, as reportedy by Deadline. Wind Sun Sky is most recently known for the Amazon Prime series Invincible, which has a second season airing this year, while Winder has been attached to projects such as The Clone Wars TV show and the Angry Birds Movie.

The episodic series will be set in the world of Creatures of Sonaria, a survival game created by Sonar Studios. The fantasy game has the players fighting to survive as they navigate a world filled with mystical creatures. The setting lends itself well to an episodic format, where each episode can introduce new creatures as well as new challenges for the characters to overcome.

The production team for the show will be working with the game's publisher, Twin Atlas, with Samuel Garcia of the studio telling Deadline, "I am very excited to work with Catherine, Jay and the innovative team of storytellers at WSS to add narrative depth to our characters and in turn further engage and delight our fans in a whole new way". Winder also praised the partnership, saying, "As the partnership of PMI and WSS expands, we will continue to look for rich universes with cross platform, immersive potential, like Creatures of Sonaria, to partner up with and extend into the kind of gamified storyworlds that global audiences and fans are looking for in the metaverse".

The hints at a larger tie to "the metaverse" raise some questions as to what that actually means. It was also announced that WSS will be making a show based on the Twilight Daycare series games, which focus on childcare, with the show possibly being akin to the classic television show Rugrats. Neither project has a release date as it seems that Creatures is in early development, with Twilight Daycare to follow.
