Developer ACE Team is back with the sequel to its part tower defense, part racing game, Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder.

Below you can read the premise of the sequel to 2011’s Rock of Ages:

This time around Atlas (no relation to Atlus), the Greek Titan tasked with the eternally dreary job of holding up the sky, has literally dropped the ball and must run through different periods of Art History to escape the consequences.

The only problem is that some very notable figures and works of art are trying their best to stop him.

The goofy premise of the game’s story seems to compliment Rock of Ages‘ gameplay. To complete a stage, players are tasked with continuously rolling a boulder into the gates of their opponent’s castle. Once the gates are open, you flatten your opponent “into a pancake.” Whilst doing this, your opponent is trying to destroy your boulder, and break open your gate as well. Setting up obstacles for your opponent to avoid will benefit you as you attempt to break through their gate first.

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder will have some new features as well. A bigger selection of customizable units will be available, such as the catapult and the battleship. There are also various boulders with their own unique stats and abilities. The Gunpowder Boulder will cause explosive damage, while the Block of Ages boulder does more damage. Exploiting these stats will be to your benefit as you roll through your opponent’s gate.

New features have been added to multiplayer to allow more cotenders to face each other. You can now enjoy 2v2 War matches or free-for-all Obstacle Course races online or locally. Additionally, you can customize your army with different banners and colors. Lastly, other multiplayer functions such as Quick Match and a map voting system have been implemented.

Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder was originally set to release in 2016, but was delayed. The game will now launch on August 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Here is a screenshot of the game set in a very familiar Van Gogh painting:
