More Rock Band 4 details were revealed today, including additions to the track list, but Harmonix also released some interesting news about the game's hardware and pricing. It was earlier announced that Rock Band 4 would be compatible with any previously released DLC and peripheral controllers for previous entries in the franchise, which excited long-time fans of the series. Now, however, it has been announced that for Xbox One players a separate adapter will be required to use those controllers.

Because the game can use old hardware, it can be bought as a standalone disc without any instruments. On PS4, this will run the standard price of $60. To use Xbox 360 instruments on an Xbox One, the Legacy Controller Adapter is required, which raises the cost of the game to $80.

Up to four guitar and drum controllers can be supported at one time with the adapter for use in-game. Harmonix also posted this chart that details which controllers can be used with Rock Band 4:
